Space to Breathe

‘Space to Breathe’ is a four year project funded by National Lottery Community Fund, running from Summer 2023 to Summer 2027. Located in Bury St Edmunds, Haverhill and Ipswich, the project uses our rich natural heritage to inspire the local community to engage with heritage assets and in doing so improving wellbeing. Self referrals and referrals from health professionals are available for our five week creative courses which work across the arts including printing, drawing, photography, collage and poetry.

Our project also has creative wellbeing workshops for adult carers (full, or part time) and this is also open to those who have been bereaved. Held at our outdoor venue in Little Whelnetham, the workshops offer a closer look at the natural world alongside cake and coffee.

‘Space to Breathe’ is also accessible online over winter, accessing interesting collections from local museums and enabling those unable to travel to meet others and engage in purposeful activity. Responding in real time to local demands, the project also enriches and records creativity of the homeless, working alongside Bury Drop In Centre.
